1.The benefits of working with a classmate.

Unfortunately, I think me and my partner both had very little benefit, but we still had few benefits. First benefit was that by looking through partner's literature, we can absord their skills and learn from them. This benefit really helped me when I was writing connection, which I am always confused with. For me, I believe it also helped me to develop my writing skills. Secondly, by checking partner's job, I noticed that I have few mistakes same as my partner. As a result, I was able to fix and develop mine too.

2. Challenges / obstacles which you overcame (tried to overcome).

There were very few great cooperation with partner, and also there were few challenges and obstacles while working with partner. First challenge that we had to face was searching for different passage each. Since we couldn't just choose anything, we communicated with each other to remind each other what we chose. Second obstacle was time. Since we started quite late, it was hard to check in short time.

3. New understandings that you gained about the novel.

Since our passages were near, I didn't gained any new understanding about the book. However, we discussed about the book few times about parts that had some interesting survival. For example, when we were reading about Brian eating turtle eggs, we talked about eating eggs raw.

Discussion

Discussing in group helped me to under stand better by sharing opinions and ideas about what is important to the story. Also, discussing in group made me sure about my idea because of agreement. When members of the group agree to an idea, it makes person who thought that idea feel sure about their ideas. Divorce and hatchet. Thoughts of divorce always bothers him and makes him think about his mother's secret and other facts related to his parents' divorce. For hatchet, it is only tool he has and which he needs to suvive in wilderness.
Usually, my connections related to plane crush, his parents' divorce and other important events happened to him. For the first chapter, I wrote connections about the plane crush, which was the crucial event to the story, and about his parents' divorce which gave huge impact on him. For example, plane crush because of strange lights from the ground and watching program about living with divorced parents. For 3~6 chapters, I made connections about Brian's survival part when he drank water and vomit. For example, vomitting after drinking too much water, which happened to me few months ago.

I think Brian will survive and finally he will be rescued, because even though his head busy thinking about divorce and plane crush, he is working hard to survive until the plane will come and get him. Also, now, he does not really think of divorce and other events very much and he is thinking about survival. As a result I think he will escape from the wilderness.

3

When we went to Kuala Selangor, we had a time to learn about mangrove and plant them. Most of them in Malaysia are destroyed by their uses. Only 1 over 3 or 4 had survived and still living. They grow in wet land. Wet Land is a unique place where is filled with mud. They are also essential to enviroment.

First, wet land cleans trashes and polluted water. Animals, Insects and bacterias are the cleaners of the sea. They live in wet land and they break and destroy polluted water. Secondly, wet land defend us from disasters. When there is a tsunami, wet land absorbs the energy of the wave and changes into weaker wave. Wet land could also absorb and save water when there is flood. As they makes the disasters weaker, we get less damages.

Mangrove trees are very helpful. Planting mangrove is a way to save them. There are lots of living things in the mangrove forest. There are monkeys, birds and in insects. They are all important in wild life. Mangrove trees prevent salt from going into river. Another advantage of planting mangrove is they protect coastlines from wave and winds.

Time for courage

Courage is important to everyone. However, we need to use it in a proper way. Or else, we will be not be able to use it in a right situation. There are lots of times when we have to show our courage. There are huge moments to show our courage, but in our lifetime we usually experience small events that need our courage to go through.
In my life time until now, I have experienced some events to be brave. I think the most important time was the day I started to take pills for cold. I began taking pills when I was grade two. It was hard  at first, but it got better and better. I took two to three pills everyday. I filled up a huge glass with water and I took my mouth full of water. Next, I opened a pill paper bag. It felt like it couldn't be opened. When I tried to pick up the first pill it felt extremely heavy because I was so nervous. Eventually, I put it into my mouth.Unfortunately, I had so much water in my mouth, I was not able to swallow all the needless water and the horrible pill. I felt nothing but bitter. As the pill melted, the bitterness grew, and I felt a terrible bitter. As I had nothing but swallowing, I tried my neck to be biggest to swallow all the pill and water. As a result, I was able to swallow I think it was my act worked. With my courage and brave try, I swallowed my first pill.

I felt great relief. After my first experience, taking other pills are much more easier than the first time. Swallowing pills is not as hard and monstrous to me anymore. Now, it is a piece of cake. I want to advise to people: "Eating pills are not as hard as you think."

How did early humans use art to express their prehistoric culture?

Early humans, Homo Sapien Sapiens, were the first artist who drew on their cave walls. They drew lots of things, such as animals. Scientists think they drew what they could have seen or their imaginations. They also think that they drew a scene of hunting, or ritual, or the nature. They didn't only draw, they made many artifacts too. They made sculptures, spear throwers, and etc.

I think they express their culture by drawing a part of their rituals and their artifacts which were used in their rituals. Like the Clay Sculptures of Bison-which has lots of children foot prints, so scientists think there was a place which held coming-of-age ceremony-the artifacts include lots of informations about them. We can also predict that they believed the sprits, and the gods by looking at their spear  thrower. The spear thrower has a horse carved on the top. In the birdman painting, there is a spear thrower with a bird carved on the top. Why did ancient people had animal carved on their spear thrower? We can guess right away. Maybe they believed in spirits, or it was their symbol.

For drawings, there are also an example for this, a painting that contains a picture of a injured man with the bird head, an injured bison with a spear-which has went in, and a bird-shaped spear thrower. Scientist thinks this drawing is a part of a hunting ritual that was held long ago, because the drawing contains weapons. This drawing shows their hunting ritual which is a part of their culture, so it proves my answer.

I have support my answer with Clay Sculptures of Bison, Spear Thrower, and the drawing of hunting ritual. I think they worked on my answer. Again, my answer is that the ancient people drew paintings about their rituals and they made artifacts which was used in their rituals to express their culture by using art.

Archeologist

Archeolgist is a person who learns ancient histories by ancient artifacts. They studies artifacts and often dig ground to find artifacts. They search when and where the artifacts from. They travel around countries-which have many artifacts-to get informations from them. I think they are enjoyable job for me.

First, I like ancient artifacts. I am curious about how the ancient people made beautiful artifacts. My favorite artifacts are Egypt artifacts, like wallpaintings, tomb and other treasures. I think it will be amazing work to do. We can study artifacts, and also we can learn histories from them.

Secondly, I like it, because I always dreamed about finding secret or hidden place beneath ground or ocean. If I could do that, It will be a great discovery for ancient history. I want to find Atlantice which is still unknown place. Unfortunately, I don't like ocean, but I won't give up.

Finally, I like archeologist, because it looks like full of adventures. Like movie Indiana Jones, the main character is archeologist. There is lots of movies-which have archeologists for main character. Unfortunately, there will be real accidents, like trapped in a finding place. It will be a dangerous job-sometimes-,but still I think archeologist is a great job to me.
